The Golden Wings
The Golden Wings, Crom Hold's place of relaxation and friendship.
Around you the influence of the weyr and hold ties abound.
Hanging from one wall a woven tapesty depicts a Queen's wing
in formation. All brightly woven with care. The
tables finely crafted of the finest hardwoods the near by forests have
to offer. All the chairs look well worn from their many
occupants. On another wall an opened window looks out
to the courtyard. But the shutters may be shut in case
of need. The stone floor, well kept shows much use as well.
Near the door leading to the back room is the tavern's bar. It's
shine outshines anything in the tavern. It's brass fittings
well kept, high gloss woods show your reflection as glance
at it. Other tapestrys hang depicting the hold's long
history, some look to be in repair to revive their brilliance.
You see Sage, KameHa, Elix, Matrix, Trouble, and Emerald settled comfortably
on an overhead rafter.
You see the bar, Stalk, Today's Menu, Spice, Meka, Dice, Turnabout,
and Secret here.
F'dall, Hynavu, Corwin, Raine, Resa, Liona, and Marion are here.
For whatever reasons you'd like to leave The Golden Wings , you can
go: Private Quarters
Game Room
Crom Hall
Liona chuckles, "Leave him where he lies. Might make him remember next time." she kidding of course, but it might work...
Raine grins and shakes her head. "No, i think Liani was after you before he even saw you. He was asking for you before you came in." Girl shifts her chair, a bit noisily, so she can see most of the people in the wings--gotta keep a watch even if she is off duty. "Me, well after this morning's flutter of activity, i've had a fairly uneventfull day. Now i'm off, and look at me, still in here," she scolds herself with a grin.
Marion looks over at Corwin and nods, "Those is rude hatchlin's" and punctuates that with a nod and a curious look at Trouble.
F'dall blinks and glances over to the new arrival, flashing a small smile. "Yes well Trouble is just that...Trouble. I've gotten used to it...should have seen him -before- I ever brought him under control." he chuckles, and glances at Marion in a friendly enough tone. "And you must be Marion. Resa's told me about you..."
Hynavu chuckles softly. "Well, there is an atmosphere to the place ... why you chose to hostess, right?" He cocks his head. "He was asking for me? Where would he have gotten my name ..." Harper trails off into thoughtful silence.
Solaria pauses just inside the door as she looks around the 'Wings. She shakes her head, still not used to seeing all the unfamiliar people here instead of the old crowd. Dodging people, she makes her way towards the bar, ordering a glass of wine from the bartender. Climbing up on the stool, she looks around again as she waits for the drink.
Resa smiles down at the girl, "You went to a hatching today? " Just a tinge of jealously shades her tone of voice, wishing she'd been free to attend instead of in class with Master Tumier.
Marion nodsnods, "But those flitters jus' ignored me! They din't even /look/ at me!" she says, sadness in her voice.
Resa chuckles, "Where is my manners... Marion, this is another good friend of mine, F'dall. He's got a dragon... like Cyv.... but different color." She tries to explain things to the little girl, usuing names she knows.
Marion grins, "You got a dwagon?" she asks, all sadness forgotten at this news, and her face brightens.
K'no walks in from Crom Hall.
F'dall chuckles gently, and leans forward on the table, smiling at the little girl. "Indeed I do..." he answers her truthfully. "Or he's got me...it depends on how you look at it." he offers, with a small wink.
Solaria thanks the bartender for the wine and takes a sip, one again studying the new faces around here tonight. Her eyes dart from one face to another, copying them to her memory as she takes note of knots and stations. A master has to know these things you know!
Marion grins, "Wha's his name?" she asks, "I /wike/ dwagons! Am says dwagons take care of me!" she says with an even bigger grin.
Raine nods confirmation at hyna. "Yep, he came in charming me and asking me if i'd seen anyone named Hynavu," she says with a grin. "What'd you do that got them so intrested in you?"
K'no peers at his arm as he enters, not watching where he's going and nearly trips over a drudge. "Shard it all!" He mutters and regains his posture, smoothing out the evil robe. "Eh." He peers round, nodding to F'dall, Crowin, Resa, and... Ah, there's his target. He makes his way over towars Raine's table.
Resa smiles, her bad mood forgotten for awhile it seems. "His name is Gaderith.. " She leans down to whisper, "But you can call him Gaddy..."
Hynavu coughs a little. "I haven't a clue," he confesses. "Drew the wrong victim? I don't think Veili would remember me from the ... scene ... where we met Marion ..." He peers over at the little girl, then shrugs. "I'd be obliged if you could ask some time, maybe?"
F'dall chuckles, "Yes..that's his name. And a big hunk of bronze he is too for that matter." he offers, straightening up. "Almost -too- much of a hunk of bronze..when it comes to rubbing time. Thank heavens for willing helpers about the Weyr..."
Resa glances up at the disturbance, giving K'no a smile, then a wave as she takes in the bandages and... healer's robe?!?
Marion hears her name mentioned, looks at Hyn, shrugs then back at F'dall, "Gaddy!" she says with a grin. THen she starts entertaining herself with rhymes, "Gaddy, Caddy, Maddy, Waddy, Daddy, Paddy..." etc. etc.
Raine grins and nods. "Sure, Excuses to talk to cute crafters are always appreciated." She hasn't noticed the robe-clad Kino heading her way yet, girl is rather fixed on finding out what got hyna targeted. "So how'd you meet her then?"
Corwin listens intently in on the story, silent, and curios too
Hynavu chuckles softly. "Anything I can do to help, in that case. Ahhh ... Liani returned with herself in tow. She wanted a portrait. Or a guide. It was very disconcerting." He runs an awkward hand through his hair.
Solaria raises an eyebrow as she watches over the rim of her wineglass as the newcomer stumbles into the drudge. Turning back to the bartender, she asks the names of a few of the unknowns, thanking him politely when he supplies them.
K'no finishes making his way over to Raine and taps on her shoulder. "Boo." He grins at her and pulls up a chair and plops down into it, next to her. He leans over. "Pssst.... Who are all these people?" He looks around a bit aprehensivly.
Tenya walks in from Crom Hall.
Ah, another day, another evening trip to the mug. Tenya slips in and walks towards the bar, almost having to nudge people out of the way to get there, "Quite busy tonight.." she comments to herself. She nods politely to a few people she knows, gets to the bar, and orders a drink.
F'dall merely chuckles, and finishes off the last of his redfruit juice once again, and finally sets back the bottle, suddenly realizing just how much he -did- drink. Oof. Well..at least it wasn't wine. With a small burp, he proceeds to straighten up and shake his head slowly. "Oof..as it is, I do believe I'd better start making tracks. I hear word that Telgar is needing Gaderith and I back..."
Corwin looks oer across the table and nods to K'no. "'lo there rider."
Solaria smiles as a familiar face pushes through the crowd. She laughs, then turns towards Tenya, "Ah... you came!" Oh no... here it goes again!
Liona yawns, proping her head up with her arm, looking intently off into space, thinking her own thougts.
Tenya looks up from her reverie, straight to Solaria. Harper laughs and takes a low bow, "G'evening, m'lady." she straightens up and motions to the bar, "May I treat you to a drink? Perhaps a snack?"
Solaria smiles, holding up her wineglass, "A snack though, would be delightful! " She bats her eyelashes, ducking her head as any shy maiden would around a handsome suitor.
Raine almost jumps as she's tapped, no she really haddn't noticed him. "What'cha doing here," she says, face brightening signifigantly at the site of the familiar rider. She gives something of a helpless shrug toward hynavy then turns light eyes on kino. "Really, i don't know," girl replies scanning the room again, eyes lighting briefly on the other rider. "Have only met one or two of them."
Hynavu shrugs his shoulders. "I could give you the names around ... well, to most of them," he amends. "Hello, K'no."
Resa ohs to F'dall, nodding as she understands the responsibilities of a rider. "Would you mind if Marion and I follow you out so she can meet Gaddy?"
Marion grins and nodsnods, stopping her rhymes, "Oh yes, I'd like ta meet Gaddy!" she exclaims.
Tenya mms softly and taps a drudge as she passes by. She whispers an order, the drudge nods, and scurries off. Tenya motions to a free table, "Would you like to have a seat while the drudge gets our meal?"
K'no nods to the pair and points too... Tenya, Solaria, Liona annnd Marion. "Like them Hynavu? You do requests?" He grins at his own stupid little joke and sits back into his chair. "Or should I just ask 'em my self?"
Solaria nods her head, sliding from the barstool. She makes her way to the table, waiting beside the chair..
F'dall glances over at Resa, and gives a small smile. "Of course. He's always willing to go through greetings to someone new." he offers, gesturing now towards the way out. "By all means, let's go see him."
Resa laughs and nods, then swings Marion up on her back so she can ride out.
Hynavu flushes brightly for reasons ineffable. "Ask them what?" he inquires with some puzzlement. He missed a page.
Tenya grabs her glass and scurries over, pulling out Solaria's chair, "Please, have a seat." she motions slightly towards the chair, as if emphasing 'here.'
Raine chuckles and swivles in her chair a little so she's facing kino, "Well, the little girl's Marion," she offers helpfully. "As to most everyone else in here, i'm drawing a blank," she says casting her amythest gaze on hynavu.
Solaria takes the chair with a smile, then a blush. "Thank you Tenya..." She turns.. love-sick?... eyes on Tenya as she takes her seat.
Marion giggles as she is swung through the air and grabs hold of Resa, holding on /very/ tightly to her shoulders.
Resa merrily pounces along toward Crom Hall.
F'dall walks toward Crom Hall.
Marion toddles toward Crom Hall.
Hynavu looks thoughtful. "Have you ever met Corwin or Solaria, K'no?" He indicates the two, separately, of course. He's not saying anything about Solaria and acting ...
Tenya pushes in the chair gently - not too far, she'd hate to have a squished Starcrafter - then goes to the other side of the table and sits in her own chair. She turns adoring eyes onto her friend, "Why aren't you watching the skies this evening?"
Solaria shrugs, too caught up in the one before her. Stars? They pale in comparision! She sighs dreamily, "Why watch stars when one shines so brightly here tonight?"
Corwin nods to the rider. "I believe we've met. I help dave the life of one brave but poorly balanced StarCRafter over at Telget"
K'no nods, filing the name under 'brat'. "Who, Corwin? The lifesaving bitran? Hah! I know all about the man!" He grins at hynavu, then shakes his head. "But no, I don't know Soleria. Which one is that?" He looks about the room.
Corwin points to the StarCraft Master sitting over with the HarperCraft Master. "Her." He says.
Tenya chuckles softly and winks, "It would appear that you're being blinded by /yourself/." she swirls around her drink in her glass, "For I certainly am."
Raine knows neither, and that life-saving part has puzzled her further, but she doens't mention it. "Who'er the other's then?" she askes, eyes falling on those yet unnamed by the harper.
Solaria blushes once more, but shakes her head, "You are too kind my friend! " Another sip is taking of her wine, it's color contimplated for a moment before she sneaks a quick glance across the table.
Tenya mms softly and peeks over at the drink, "What sort of wine is that?" she tilts her head slightly to the side, "Benden or Tillek or what?"
Hynavu glances about. "Oh! There's also Liona over there -" again, he uses a small directional point of the mug, quite subtle, to indicate "- and ... Tenya. The, ah, Harpercraft Master."
Solaria smiles, the white swished around in her glass, "Why, only the best Benden white..." Glance is given through eyelashes as she pretends to be the shy maiden.
Tenya's hand travels over the table, "May I have a sip?" she looks towards Hynavu as she hears her name, "Was I called, Hynavu?"
Hynavu shakes his head. "No, ma'am," he says, just loudly enough for his words to carry. "I was just pointing out people, ma'am." Never hurts to be polite.
Solaria slides the glass across the table, nodding. She turns, eyes looking over the few at the nearby table. Eye bright with humor, she gifts them with a smile before turning back to her friend.
Tenya takes the glass and brings it to her lips. She sniffs it delicately, drinks a tablespoon or so, swishes it around in her mouth, and swallows. She nods approvingly, pushing the cup back, "Delicious, you have good taste." she bows her head slightly with respect.
K'no nods. "Harpercraft Master, eh? She's kinda cute," he jokingly says, waiting for Hynavu's reaction. He chortles and nods as the other's names are said. "Liona and Solaria?" He nods, filing those names down too. "Thanks. So how have you been, Hyn?"
Raine chuckles a bit at hynavu's scrambling. "So i see," she says with a grin at hynavu. "So, yet another question, why'er you so against getting a rider swimsuit. I'm sure kino here has one," she pauses looking over at kino a bit impishly, "Don't cha?"
Hynavu blinks a little. "Hmmm, I suppose she is, in a way," he says with natural-sounding neutrality. "As for myself ... I've been doing well. Tired, but in a good way." And weaver-pecked, but he's been through *that* once ... "How goes it up at ... swimsuit? What swimsuit?" He shoots an imploring gaze at Raine. Please, *please* just pretend you asked the wrong person and move on?
Solaria smiles, thanking Tenya, "How has your day gone?" She awaits, listening closely to hear every word.
Tenya nods slightly, going back to her own drink and sipping as she speaks, "It went well. Paperwork, taught a class on..." she frowns slightly as she tries to remember, "Well, something. I hope my apprentices remember better than I."
K'no looks at Raine oddly for a few minutes, then laughs. "Ah yes, why not, Hynavu? You are capable of it, right?" He grins at him and leans the chair back, looking at all the occupants merrily.
Hynavu shakes his head. "Actually, no," he says, managing *some* composure. "I don't have the marks for one."
Solaria laughs again, the merry sound blending into the surrounding noise. "Ah.. we should hope so! We wouldn't want you to get in trouble with the apprentices now would we?" Trouble? Never! Does she makes sense? Nah...
Liona goes home.
Raine gives hynavu an extreemly disappointed look but lets the subject drop. 'You're so boring' she mouthes at him teasingly--she really did wanna bug him about that. She decided to bug kino about it. "So does that mean you /doo/ have one?" she says turning rather fierce eyes on the rider.
Tenya walks her fingers across the table from right to left, "What did /you/ do today?"
Solaria leans forwad, propping her head on one hand as she shrugs, "Not much. Finished unpacking, taught a class on beginning astronomy, and helped a few Sr. Apprentices with the viewer as they got ready to map a few things in the night's sky. "
Sage flitters toward Crom Hall.
Tenya ohs? softly, "What was matter with the viewer?" she hmms softly as she considers it, "And may I ask something, not meaning to be offensive?"
Solaria smiles, "For some reason, they couldn't get the viewer to work... " She shrugs, then raises an eyebrow, "Yes?"
K'no looks at Raine. "A swimsuit? Well, it's not tight leather. It's just a pair of pants." He laughs a bit and watches the others again, eyes drifting back over to Raine with a smile. "Do /you/?"
Tenya mms softly, "Well, I can see why we need healers and weavers and harpers and even vintners." she winks and motions towards Solaria's cup of wine, "But what does the starcraft do to better life on Pern?" she bows her head slightly, "I don't mean to offend, but I really don't know much about the starcraft."
Raine grins and nods. "Yes," she says with an air of secretivity. "I'm sure mine's a bit better then just a pair of pants though."
Solaria laughs and nods at the Masterharper's question. "Well...you know we study the night's sky, the stars and the moons, and the Red Star. We study their effects on Pern such as the effect the moons have on tides." She throws that one out, wondering if the other knows anything about it. "We also study the Red Star... searching for ways... well.. to perhaps rid Pern of it." Her speech over, she takes a sip of her wine, waiting for any other questions that may have brought up.
Tenya nods ever so slightly, "But /can/ we get rid of thread? I mean, Red Star is in the sky, how do we get our dragons up that high and live?"
K'no just.. Blinks. "What? Oh, Can I /see/ your's sometime?" He winks at her and tips the chair back precariously and listens into the other conversations. "HeeHee.... That would be a treat, though." He prods her arm jokingly.
Solaria shrugs, "And that is the question we're trying to find the answer for. There are a few in our craft who only studies the Red Star... perhaps they might know more to answer your questions. " She offers the last with a smile as she finishes off the wine.
Tenya motions towards Solaria, "What do you mainly study?"
Raine debates letting her foot accidently shove into kino's chair...wouldn't that be a sight. Girl smirks a little to herself, then gives kino a rather airy shrug. "Perhaps," she says with a taunting grin.
Solaria smiles as she motions to the bartender to refill her glass, "I mentor and teach mainly. I have no real set area of study. " She chuckles softly as she thinks back, "I couldn't decide on any one area when it came time for me to state my study area.."
Tenya laughs softly, nodding, "I couldn't decide for a long time. I went into drama mostly because I felt obligated to do /something./"
K'no grins and scoots his chair closer to Raine. "I wouldn't miss it." He laughs softly and closes his eyes, leaning the chair back and puts one arm on his lap and winces as he tries to move the other arm. "Shard it all...." he grumbles and lets it hang by his side.
Solaria grins, nodding, "Well, lucky for me, there's an area for others like me to go into! Besides which, I enjoy helping the new apprenctices out.. they remind me so much of me when I first came to the craft.."
Tenya looks towards a gathering of..perhaps weaver? Not sure, they're too far away to make out knots...apprentices gathered, "What was your apprenticehood like?"
Sh'na walks in from Inner Hall.
Sh'na walks toward Crom Hall.
Solaria smiles, looking back in her memories, "It was a blur truthfully. I don't remember so much of it except the excitment of finding others who actually wondered and asked the same questions I did about the stars. And then, finding people who could answer them!" She shakes her head, thanking the bartender as he arrives with the jug to refill her glass.
Raine glances at kino's said arm and her smirk disappears. Yes well, perhaps she won't be tipping his chair. She does grin tho, after all he is complementing her in a round about way. "Yes well, maybe we should arrange it then," she says, smirk almost returning. "You'll, of course, have to get a better suit though. One of those famed 'rider' suits Liani was babbling about."
"When did you join the starcraft?" Tenya asks quietly.
K'no looks at Rain and looks down at his robe. "What, My near birthdaysuit isn't good enough? Well... I guess not. But my riding suit got stolen, along with my clothes... soo...." He looks away, slightly embarassed.
Solaria looks up from her glass, "Late for an apprentice... at 17Turns. " But, she rose quick enough, making Master when she was 24Turns. Asking questions and searching for answers proved to be a good thing.
Tenya shakes her head, "Not too late. I had one fellow come to me when he was...24 or so?" she shakes her head, "Seems that it took him a while to 'find himself."
Solaria laughs and nods, "We've had a few of those too. A few who started out in other crafts and just wasn't happy...couldn't figure out what they were missing."
Raine grins, "Birthday suit? Welll..." she teases, mouth curling into less of a smirk and more into a seductive smile. "No." she says after a pointfull pause. "No, i think i want to see one of those rider suits liani was obsessed with earlier first. Yes...definately." She says something inaudible to a familiar drudge before turning back to kino. "There's always later afterall."
"I wonder if riders ever get unhappy..." Tenya ponders, "I mean, it's not like they can do anything about it..." A harper apprentice comes scurrying in and waits impatiently for Tenya to lok at him, "Yes?" she says, then he starts rambling quietly into her ear. The harper master stands, sighing softly, "I'm sorry, Solaria, but it seems that the Harper Hall Troublemakers might've struck again."
Solaria laughs and nods, then waits quietly as the apprentice speaks with Tenya. "Troublemakers? " This sounds interesting and she ponders asking more, but is sure to find out soon enough. "Sure... please, go. I shall see you again!"
Tenya bows low, "Have a good evening, m'lady Solaria."
Solaria smiles, waving her hand as Tenya leaves, an expression of saddness
on her face as her friend leaves. "Take care... untill we meet
again!"
Tenya walks toward Crom Hall.
Solaria smiles as she looks into her wine once more, then sighs.
It's been a long day and this Starrie is quite tired herself.
She finishes the wine, sets a few marks on the table and makes
her way back to her quarters.
